About Myself

I started playing in my early teens after becoming hooked on rock/metal music, this was the 1980s and the rock scene was thriving with the new styles of music coming through, the pop rock LA sounds of bands like Van Halen, Motley Crue and Guns n Roses fighting with the new Thrash style of Metallica,Anthrax and Slayer while the established  classic rock bands such as Iron Maiden,AC/DC,ZZ Top etc became stadium filling bands. Throw in the mix Punk/ new wave and later indie and this was a very exciting time for music!

I absorbed it all and was a regular at as many gigs as I could make. Inspired by the scene I pestered my parents for a guitar, and the next Christmas I received a Fender copy and couldn’t wait to start making some noise. That’s what my mum told me I was making anyway!

I quickly found a local guitar teacher in the hope of playing her some Hank Marvin in return, the lessons I had started my love affair with the guitar and taught me some basic tools which I desperately needed. This quickly led to myself and a few school friends forming our first band.

I progressed from this into playing the pubs/clubs with many local bands, this scene brought me to Doncaster where I still live. Fast forward 30 years and I have played with rock/metal/pop/dance/blues/ punk bands both here and in Europe. Time permitting along with live work I taught electric and acoustic guitar regularly both one on one and in a classroom environment.

I find teaching a very rewarding and satisfying job and buzz on seeing student of all levels and ages progress. I’ve seen students join bands or get up at jam nights and pass rock school grades all of which makes me a proud teacher.

Maybe you could be my next protege or you just always fancied learning to play as a hobby, either way message me directly to discuss taking it further!  I look forward to hearing from you soon
